If you are planning a vacation for next month or next year, I hope you will consider skipping the chain hotels and opt for a more homey-feeling vacation rental like those found at Marion Short Stays. 1 month before the trip:
Confirm your reservation and review the house rules that are posted on the site. Also check out the Guidebook and outline your itinerary.
Arrange for your transportation to the property. Are you renting a car or driving yourself? Are taxi services available where you are going? Even if I’m driving my own car, I like to check Google Maps for directions to the address to make sure that the directions are clear and lead to the right property.
Check the list of amenities provided and be sure that you pack what you need. Are linens provided? Basic toiletries?
One week before the trip:
Confirm the reservation…again.. I know, I just like to make sure. It’s easy to log in to you account and see your reservation dates and times and make sure all payments have been made.
Decide if you will cook some of your own meals and make a grocery list if you are planning on picking up snacks or lunch items. Find out if there is a grocery stores and restaurants nearby.
Check the forecast and pack items like rain gear or sunscreen. (I like to bring both.. just in case)
Get instructions on where and when to pick up the key or find out if there is a key code for the property. Find out what time can you get into the property, check your travel itinerary and plan accordingly.
